Turnpike Brief

A Fort Lauderdale tow truck driver struck and killed a Florida City woman when he fell asleep at the wheel Thursday morning on the Florida Turnpike, according to Homestead police


Scott M. Keller, 47, was driving northbound on the Florida Turnpike when his 2008 Ford 450 tow truck swerved into the southbound lanes crashing into Judith Henderson’s 2015 Toyota Corolla after 6 a.m., near the Southwest 184th Street exit.


Henderson, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene. Keller sustained minor injuries.


According to Homestead police, both drivers had been wearing their seat belts.
